Friends of First Impressions:
Edinburgh International Book Festival
It is a pleasure and a privilege to be involved with the Book Festival, where I run workshops focussing on the art of illustration using popular children's books.
Out of the Blue Arts and Education Trust
I am very excited to be running a pilot scheme at Out of the Blue, a long-established and respected arts space in vibrant Leith.
The Byre Theatre
Starting from September 2007, I will be participating in the Byre's brand new "Teenies" programme, introducing children from 18mos-5 years and their parents/carers to the joys of visual art.
North Edinburgh Arts Centre
The original home of First Impressions and a thriving community arts centre. Future currently uncertain due to funding issues, please visit the site to join the campaign to save the centre.
Historic Scotland
I run several workshops each year for Historic Scotland at selected properties in central Scotland.
Queen Bea
My other professional hat - when I am not running workshops, I can often be found in my studio working on my wearable textile creations.
Art Supplies:
Bits and Bobs
We are lucky to have this excellent scrap store in Edinburgh. It's a constantly changing treasure trove of crafty items, many of which would be almost impossible to find elsewhere.
Fred Aldous
Fred Aldous has long been a one-stop shop for virtually any arts and crafts materials you can imagine (and many you probably never knew existed!)
Artastik
Artastik is where I source most of my new craft materials. They have a wide range, good prices, and excellent customer service.
Fun Art Sites for Children:
Jackson Pollock painting
Younger and older children should enjoy playing with this website, which allows you to create your own masterpieces in the style of Jackson Pollock - but without the mess!
MuseumKids
New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the art world's best resources - especially for families. Their MuseumKids pages have a wide selection of interactive games and activities to introduce children to famous art.
Monet and the Impressionists for Kids
Informative site about these popular artists by author Carol Sabbeth.
